CHARACTER INFORMATION
NAME: Thorin Oakenshield, son of Thrain son of Thror, King Under the Mountain. ...just Thorin is fine.
CANON: Tolkien (the Hobbit films)
AGE: 195
CANON POINT: towards the end of Battle of Five Armies, let's call it right on his deathbed.
BACKGROUND: wiki
INCENTIVE: So, let's just put it out there that Thorin has made some bad choices as of late. Call it a result of dragon sickness or the inevitable outcome of his need for vengeance and reclaiming what was stolen from his family. Anyway, between the way he acted towards Bilbo, his obsession with the Arkenstone, barricading himself and his company inside Erebor, forsaking Lake Town, allowing himself to be swept up in only wanting his gold and his kingdom, well, he has some regrets. The state of mind he was in was temporary, and he snapped out of it. But far too late. Thorin would like a chance to see the consequences of his terrible choices undone. His incentive would be to unmake the mistakes he made. So that his nephews, Fili and Kili, could survive, as well as the rest of his company. And for Bilbo to make it back to the Shire safe and sound. He doesn't particularly care about his own life at this point in time, after the things he's set into motion, but maybe that'll change in the future. Eudio might be good for the jerk.
FIT: Honestly, Eudio will be a challenge for Thorin. He is not warm or open with his emotions. If anything, he is aloof and restrained, keeping to himself most of his thoughts and feelings. But this would be an interesting experience for him to grow, to learn to let down those walls. There is nothing in him that would be against the idea of physical intimacy. He's just spent his life consumed by other concerns. At his canon point, what he's gone through, he may realize the weakness in himself, even if it's difficult to acknowledge. Learning to be somewhat vulnerable would actually be a good step forward for him. He has no hangups about sex or physical contact, it's just a matter of actually letting people get close enough for it to happen.
CONSENT: Thorin should have no trouble understanding and sticking to the notion of consent. He considers himself an honorable dwarf and would not do anything that would infringe upon the consent of another. Even when they recruited Bilbo as burglar for his company, Thorin and the others presented the offer to him as a choice (and a contract.) He's made it clear that those who follow him do so at their own choice. Though for a while he issues strict orders (when in the throes of what Balin refers to as dragon sickness), he also snaps out of this and realizes what he has done with regret. Thorin is many things, not all of them good, but he respects others and the choices they make for themselves.

And in case that isn't sufficient:
Sample 2:
They'd come to him at the very worst time. The emissaries from this strange and magic sounding place, this city that could grant wishes. Initially Thorin had snapped in rage, demanding to know how they had gotten through the barricaded entryway, the fortress of isolation that Erebor had become one the dragon had left to rain its destruction down upon Lake Town. He hadn't wanted to listen. After all, he had his throne and the gold and treasures of his ancestors, had retaken their lost kingdom. What more could he be offered that would possibly compare, when he'd spent his whole life yearning to return to his rightful home?
There would be regret, the representatives had mentioned, and Thorin had wanted to laugh. Regret. Whatever the cost had been, to be within the halls of Erebor once more, it was more than worth the price. He had dismissed them, with no further discussion, though they'd told him he ought to remember, to think about it. His answer had been plain, "Leave, and should you return without invitation to this kingdom, you will not be met with such welcome again."
That should have been the end of it. Thorin expected the strange encounter would never cross his mind again. But his mind was not his own, twisted and poisoned in a way that he only now realized the extent of, as he saw the destruction, the gathering armies, the broken, motionless bodies of his nephews, the tattered remnants of their company. This. He had done this. The fault was his and his alone, blind with greed or arrogance. The wounds he'd received, the pain of them it was nothing compared to those thoughts.
"Have you reconsidered our offer?" The voice sounded distant, and Thorin's eyes refused to focus on its source. But he recognized it well enough, the offer that had been made earlier.
Regrets, yes, he'd come to regret. And were there any chance to right these wrongs, he would not pass it up. "Yes, I've reconsidered. I will accept your deal to see this undone." What wouldn't he do, to put right what he had allowed to go so wrong? Had caused to go so wrong?
ANYTHING ELSE? So Thorin will come basically with a small armory on his person. Long sword (not Orcrist though, THANKS THRANDUIL), bow and arrow, axe, knives, possibly a tree branch shield. Basically what I'm saying is, he'll register them all as he's asked, but the registry should set aside a couple hours and probably pat him down before he leaves just to make sure nothing was accidentally missed.
