I believe I have found you a set of capable hands for your forge.

[ Yes, he is quite pleased with himself. ]

Have you been recruiting for me, Bilbo?

[Who knew he had a hobbit head hunter.

It's kind of cute though.]

And who do these capable hands belong to?

[tooking]

Well, he was posting on the Network about looking for work - the kind of work you do - so it seemed like the logical course of action.

A young Man named Gendry.

[oakenshielded]

Is that so?

Gendry. I shall have to speak to him. I could certainly use another pair of hands at the forge.

He is human then?

[NO ELVES BILBO. But Bilbo knows that.]

[tooking]

I already told him where to find you. To be respectful and all that.

And yes, he is human. But he seems quite decent. Earnest. Which means you should be respectful to him in return, Thorin.

[ HE'S NOT AN ELF. But he does seem like a nice lad SO BE NICE. ]

I'm always respectful.

[Thorin. That's lying. To your burglar.]

But I shall remember to be kind. So long as he is willing to work, I doubt there will be reason to complain.

[tooking]

[ That is so lying. But he'll let it slide. THIS TIME. ]

He is very willing to work. He won't even accept my offer of cooking lessons without paying me back in some way. He's very honest in that.

[oakenshielded]

[Probably way too kind to him, Bilbo. He gets away with too much.]

Good.

But it seems I may owe you as well, for helping me find the help the smithy needs.

[tooking]

[ He is and he does. But Bilbo likes to think he stands his ground where it counts. ]

There's an easy way to remedy that.

Is that so?

Then by all means, whatever it may be, I'm happy to oblige.

[More than happy, actually. Bilbo is sort of a special case.]

[tooking]

Sit and watch another story with me.

I would pay that price quite gladly.

Are you home now?

[tooking]

I am. Just finished cooking a few meals for some clients.

[oakenshielded]

I will be home shortly. Pick something out to watch?

[Thorin will be kind and shower first, since he's coming from work.]

[tooking]

I shall.

[ What a thought Dwarf husband. ]

Are you hungry?

[oakenshielded]

[He does have his moments, every now and again.]

Starved, actually.

[He's a dwarf. Second only to hobbits in how often the answer to Are you hungry is do you even have to as?]

[tooking]

I'll have something ready.

[ Because food and eating is important to them, okay? Cuddling will come after. ]

[oakenshielded]

Is there anything I ought to bring home?

It seems I'm contributing very little to this evening.

[tooking]

Bring yourself home safely. That is more than enough.

[oakenshielded]

I should be able to manage that.

The greatest threat to be faced in this city seems to be an overly enthusiastic hug.

[Seriously. It's strange. Thorin still doesn't know how to handle it all the time.]

[tooking]

I'm sure you'll have no problems facing that.

[ It is strange, after dealing with the dangers of their world. But not so strange that Bilbo finds himself bothered by it. He prefers it, really. For the most part. Though there is a part of him that does miss exploring. ]

[And he will be home shortly. Letting himself in quietly, setting down what he's brought home from work just by the door.]
